Frank Rose, PsyD, MCJ
As a son of a police officer and a teacher, I was taught from a young age to give back to my community. I am thrilled to open Prime Psych VA, LLC, where I will be able to offer psychological therapy, counseling, and testing to residents across Virginia.
I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP) in the state of Virginia who specializes in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients in the treatment of anxiety (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Phobias, and Generalized Anxiety), depression, trauma/PTSD, and ADHD to help create positive and long-lasting change.
I earned my Doctorate of Psychology (PsyD), Masters of Arts in Psychology, and Masters of Arts in Criminal Justice (MCJ) at Widener University in Pennsylvania.
I received my Bachelors of Art in Psychology along with a minor in National Security and Military Leadership from Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia.
Prior to starting Prime Psych VA , I worked in a group practice and served as the Director of Military Services for a local inpatient hospital. I have completed training at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center that was sponsored by the Center for Deployment Psychology.
Frequently Asked Questions
What interested you in becoming a psychologist?
I have always been interested in how the mind works and have loved meeting people. During my freshman year of college, I took an Introductory to Psychology course and knew that this was my calling.
Why did you get a Master’s in Criminal Justice?
Being the son of a police officer, I have always had an admiration for the work of our communities’ first responders. In graduate school, I had the opportunity to work closely with the Law Enforcement Officers of several police agencies and decided to receive specialized training in helping first-responders, including police, fire fighters, EMTs, and nurses. My dissertation was entitled “Helping Those Who Help,” and my research found that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) was one of the most effective forms of treatment in helping not only first-responders, but most individuals.
